The March4Tipp Group has announced Barry Walsh as the third and final candidate to contest our local elections, which take place on 24 May.  Barry is another local who has experienced many of the issues that are affecting the people of Tipperary and this has motivated him to join the current push for change.

Barry says “I’ve been living in Tipperary Town for over 20 years. We had a family business on Main Street throughout this time. I am married to Claire and have 2 daughters Alanna Rose (9) and Muireann Ezme (8 months). We now live in Springfield Crescent on the Tipperary - Dundrum Road.

I have been involved in clubs in or around Tipperary town most of my life, Arravale Rovers GAA, Kilfeacle RFC and for the last 6 years with Tipperary Town FC.  I have played for and now manage Tipperary Town FC’s “B” team and am a committee member”.

Barry worked part time in his family’s business in Tipperary town where he saw the hardship that taxes and rates have on an already struggling main stree t. Barry says businesses are further hampered by the volume of traffic passing through main street on a daily basis.  He says “we all need to work together to achieve traffic reduction on our Main Street”

Barry has also experienced first-hand how hard it is to get back to work. “The reason I have decided to run for local elections is mainly to contribute to getting the Tipperary/Cashel area back on its feet. I want to listen to and speak for the people of Tipperary/Cashel while also keeping them up to date on what’s happening “

The group doesn't have the resources of candidates who are running for political parties, so they have begun to fundraise to pay for printing costs etc.  They have launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money for campaign costs. Anyone wishing to support the campaign can do so HERE.

They are also holding a campaign launch in Quinlan's Bar on 12 April at 9pm, followed by a fun table quiz at 9.30. A table of 4 can be purchased for €40.
