pothole repair

Tipperary Mid West Radio are reporting that the N24 through Tipperary Town may not be repaired until the third quarter of 2019, or even as late as 2020.

In an interview with Councillor Michael Fitzgerald on TMWR, it emerged that consultations between a number of agencies resulted in a decision to defer the works. The conditions of the roads in Tipperary Town have caused much concern amonst residents and motorists.  TV3 News visited the town in January of this year and did a news item on the state of the roads.  Following that, people had been reassured by an announcement, in December, that funding had been approved and that the work would be completed this year.

In December last year, the Nationalist Newspaper reported an announcement by Mattie McGrath, TD, that he was "delighted that the N24 through Tipperary Town including Davitt Street, Main Street and Fr Matthew Street is to receive €1.6m towards pavement strengthening and overlay. As many will be aware the condition of the surface of Main Street, Tipperary Town is in very poor condition with a number of years and this will finally be overcome".

Now it seems that the town must wait another year, if not more, to have its roads restored to a safe and proper condition.

The report appeared on Tipperary Mid West Radio's Facebook Page.
